A slither of water in the distance, interrupted by forested land
Seeps a little into the ground, frozen in places. Crisp green blades jutting out here and there
The grey sky relents to a clearer ivory horizon
Magpies sift through turned over pebbles by a hillock
Roots overgrown swept by moss resent the intrusion
A sound echoes some distance and nuzzles into the cracked bark of a tree
Nature interrupted by lead, sap seeps green through intruding crevices
Sweet trickle, encasing a passing insect, dark fluid hits the soil, sits then sinks
Sap to soil through ivory pebbles, man and nature split by the horizon.
Silence descends, slithers through roots and leaves relax for the night
